More details released on impaired driver crashing into RCMP cruiser
The Saskatchewan RCMP have released a few more details regarding a collision between an impaired driver and a parked RCMP cruiser in Swift Current.
A Swift Current City RCMP officer was conducting a curfew check on Wednesday night at a residence when he watched a vintage vehicle crash into his parked cruiser. The officer noted that the driver, 33-year-old Tyler White, didn't have his running lights on and was driving erratically on Friesen Street.
Ministry of Health warning Swift Current about possible drug overdoses
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health sent out an alert Tuesday evening about potential drug overdoses in Swift Current, including a fatal one.
According to the alert sent on the Alertable app, one death was a result of an overdose, while surviving cases have required hospitalization.
Hutch Ambulance received multiple suspected overdoses reported on Tuesday between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
"Dangerous drugs are in the area: drug sold as 'molly' (MDMA or ecstasy) contains unknown opioid," the alert said.
Swift Current RCMP on the lookout for wanted man
Swift Current Municipal RCMP are requesting the public's assistance to locate an individual who is currently wanted on warrants for several charges.
Sheldon Bernard Onland is believed to be in Swift Current and is described as 6'2", around 170 pounds, with blond or brown hair.
The 36-year-old is wanted on three charges;
Sexual interference,
Failure to comply with a release order, and
Failure to attend court.
Law enforcement searching for man with ties to southwest
The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is searching for a missing man that's wanted man by the Saskatchewan RCMP, whom they believe could be in the southwest.
Brenden Taylor and his dog, Milly, were last seen on April 27 in Edmonton around of 91 Street and 71 Avenue.
RCMP issue update on rollover on Highway 4
The Saskatchewan RCMP has provided an update on the early morning crash south of Swift Current on Tuesday.
The single vehicle rollover on Highway 4, about six kilometres from Swift Current, was reported to the Swift Current Rural RCMP around 5 a.m.
The male teen driver later attended the hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Coyote sighting near Fairview School
A coyote sighting this afternoon in Swift Current.
An e-mail to Fairview School parents warned of a coyote sighting in the afternoon at the school playground and near the S3 Arenas.
There was also a post online about a coyote sighting on Burke Crescent at 12:30 PM.
Parents are advised to remind their children to not approach any animal they don't know.
Swift Current man behind bars after assault
A southwest man will be spending the next 150 days in prison after being sentenced earlier this week on several charges stemming from an assault.
Swift Current's Brett Padley appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on Wednesday morning, where he was sentenced on four summary counts and handed the lengthy prison sentence.
Judge Jacobson ruled for 60 days on count one and 90 days on count two, to be served concurrently. In addition to another 45 days and another 15 days, for a total of 150 days to be served in prison.

A southwest man will be spending the next 150 days in prison after being sentenced earlier this week on several charges stemming from an assault.

Two of three locals sentenced in worksite break-and-enter
A second local man was sentenced earlier this week for a break-and-enter at a worksite that saw several individuals arrested this past fall.
Ryan Corrins attended Swift Current Provincial Court on Wednesday morning to plead guilty on both counts against him; break-and-enter and theft under $5,000.
The Swift Current resident was handed a 90-day conditional sentence with the first 60 days to be served on house arrest, along with a required 60 hours of community service.
Swift Current man on house arrest after break-and-enter
A local man was recently sentenced on a charge stemming from a break-and-enter at a company-owned worksite.
Swift Current's Austin Hill appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on Wednesday, March 26, where he pleaded guilty to one count of break-and-enter.
The 29-year-old was given a 90-day conditional sentence to be served at an approved residence with a 24-hour curfew for the first 45 days and 90 days of probation.
He was also ordered to pay a $200 donation to Maverick School, an additional $300 donation at the end of his probation period, and a $100 fine.
