Fatal rollover downtown Moose Jaw

A single vehicle rollover in downtown Moose Jaw late Thursday night has claimed the life of one person.

The collision on Main Street North between the 1100 and 1300 block occurred at approximately 11:49 p.m. 

Two other occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital with one suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries and the other being treated for minor injuries and has been released from hospital.

Outlook woman dead after yesterday morning collision

Outlook RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 15 yesterday in the RM of Rudy and have released details this morning.

An SUV and truck collided, and police attended the scene along with local fire and EMS. 

A passenger in the SUV was transported to a hospital and later declared deceased. She has been identified as a 69-year-old from Outlook and her family has been notified.

Special policing teams tackle drugs, weapons, and trafficking

In the first six months of 2024, municipal Crime Reduction Teams (CRT) and Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Teams (STRT) removed more than 13,000 combined grams of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl from communities across the province.  

The special provincial policing teams also made over 45 human trafficking interventions, connecting victims with supports, laid almost 480 criminal charges, and removed more than $110,000 and 100 firearms from the hands of criminals.  

Maple Creek company fined for illegal importing

A Maple Creek company was fined nearly $10,000 earlier this year after being caught illegally importing pine logs from Alberta, risking the spread of destructive mountain pine beetles. 

According to a provincial release issued this morning, firewood, logging and sawmilling operation Landrider Trux Ltd., was reported to the Turn in Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line in May. 

Electric bike theft has RCMP on lookout

An electric three-wheel bicycle was reported stolen on Saturday morning in Swift Current, and City RCMP are investigating the theft.

A media release issued this morning stated that the lock on the bike was cut and the three-wheeler was stolen from the 600 block of 6th Avenue Northwest. Extensive patrols were made to locate it, with no success so far.

Shaunavon part of 20 connected ATM thefts across province

More than 100 charges have been laid in connection with a string of ATM and vehicle thefts across Saskatchewan, including an incident that occurred in Shaunavon. 

A Saskatoon RCMP officer responded to a report of an alarm at a business on the morning of Nov. 18, 2023, and arrived to see a severely damaged door and a heavy-duty chain.

The RCMP are reporting that Julia Koester has been found safe.

Moose Jaw RCMP received a missing person's report around 2 p.m. yesterday for a 24-year-old woman. 

Julia Koester was last seen on Aug.9 at approximately 7 p.m. on Thomas Street in Marquis, and RCMP state she may have travelled to the Assiniboia, Estevan or Buffalo Pound areas.

SPCA announces temporary partial closure

Swift Current's animal shelter has closed its doors to the public today and is expected to reopen tomorrow. 

The local SPCA posted on social media that due to unforeseen circumstances, there will also be a canine intake and adoption freeze, including walks, for the day.

Crown stays fraud charge against past director of Gull Lake non-profit

A former director of the Autumn House Independent Living Facility accused of being overpaid while working at the Gull Lake business saw her charge stayed by the Crown yesterday.

Tayler Hall was charged with one count of fraud over $5,000 on Dec. 27, 2023, following an investigation by the Swift Current Rural RCMP that alleged she was overpaid for hours worked and paid for hours not worked. 

Sunday night collision on Highway 1 near Mortlach

Moose Jaw RCMP were on the scene of what was described as a “serious collision” late on Sunday night on Highway #1 near Mortlach. 

While westbound lanes were blocked, RCMP sent a press release just after 3:30 a.m. on Monday to say that they have since reopened.
