Elda (Renz) Bachmier was born on the homestead south of Glidden, July 28, 1926, to John and Amelia. She was the fourth born of six girls. Elda loved the outdoors and was always with her dad farming. Driving the combine, the grain truck, and hauling grain to the local elevator.

Elda and her sisters would bring their many instruments to the church and sing. They did this for many years. Her love of music was with her all her life. She played guitar, accordion, violin, piano and organ. She would mostly sing gospel and in German too.

After she finished school, she moved to Fort San, Fort Qu’Appelle, to work as a nurse’s aide at the Sanitarium during the tuberculosis outbreak. She lived and worked there for three years.

She moved back home to help her dad farm and that’s when she met and married Philp Bachmier. They made their homestead south of Glidden and had a mixed farm. They welcomed their daughter, Betty and three years later, a son, Jerry.

Elda was a busy farmer, farming the land with her husband, milking the cows and selling the cream. She always had delicious meals on the table every night and a variety of cakes or cookies or the most delicious Kucha (all flavors).

Elda and Philip took their kids out on many wonderful trips, they especially loved going to the lake, boating, fishing and getting together with friends and neighbors. She also went on some farther trips to Hawaii, Jamaica, Florida and yearly winter trips to Las Vegas.

They continued to grow their farm and she loved driving her Steiger tractor, she was always a hard-working farmer. Their family was also growing, and they welcomed five grandchildren and later a great grandchild. She was a wonderful Gramma and loved to spoil her grandkids.

Elda and Philip retired farming and shortly after because of Philip’s health, they decided to move to Saskatoon to be closer to better facilities and resided there for five years. After Philip’s passing, she moved to Kindersley to be closer to her family and resided in her own home for 15 years. She had wonderful neighbors and we always felt assured they were looking out for her, thank you.

Elda enjoyed her home, hosting many Christmases, Easter’s, and Thanksgiving’s, always having a houseful, welcoming in everyone. She loved to be busy, building shelves and cupboards, cutting down trees, painting, and planting flowers. She loved the outdoors.

Her health started to deteriorate and moved to Heritage Manor and resided there for almost four years until her passing on, July 10, 2024. Elda is survived by her children, Betty (David) Nobert, and Jerry (Noleen) Bachmier. Her grandchildren, Derek, Dayna, Travis, Tanya, Sherra and great grandchild Bentley. She is survived by her sister, Marie, also many brother-in-law’s, sister-in-law’s and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Philip, her four sisters, many sisters-in-law and brother-in-law’s.

We would like to thank the nurses and caregivers who gave Elda care, compassion and kindness, and to all the visitors who would stop by and say hello and visit with her, thank you.

Thank you to Tom and all the staff at the Kindersley Funeral Home. Thank you, Rev. Piotr, for a beautiful service.
