The Winnipeg Sea Bears have yet again broken the Canadian Elite Basketball League's (CEBL) single-season attendance record.

Manitoba's professional basketball team had 86,275 fans over 10 regular season games in 2024. This surpasses their previous record of 55,029 set during their inaugural season in 2023 according to a news release from the club.

"We never cease to be amazed by the passion and energy of our incredible fan base"

The Sea Bears' attendance success continued to soar as they also set a new franchise record for single-game attendance. Their final game of the 2024 regular season attracted 11,051 fans to Canada Life Centre, surpassing the previous mark of 10,580 set during their 2023 playoff appearance.

"We never cease to be amazed by the passion and energy of our incredible fan base," said Winnipeg Sea Bears president Jason Smith.

"Sea Bears Nation is the foundation of all that we do, and we cannot wait to see them back at Canada Life Centre in May of 2025."

The Sea Bears' records reflect a growing enthusiasm for basketball in Winnipeg, with fan engagement rapidly increasing since the team's debut in the CEBL.

Despite their record-breaking achievements, the Sea Bears faced competition from the Calgary Surge, who set the league's new single-game attendance record when 12,327 fans packed Scotiabank Saddledome for their home opener on May 21.

Before the Sea Bears' entry into the league, the CEBL's previous single-game attendance record was held by the Vancouver Bandits, who drew 4,404 fans. The Winnipeg team's influence has clearly raised the bar for basketball attendance in Canada.
