Highway 16 through Jasper National Park has reopened to all traffic but with limited hours. Motorists will be able to proceed directly through the park with NO STOPPING between the hours of 7am to 9pm MT daily.
Services such as fuel, food, and restrooms are unavailable and should be a consideration before travelling through the park.
Drivers are asked to obey all signs and posted speed limits as there is still ongoing fire suppression activities.
Be prepared for changes in visibility. The highway may close on short notice and will be closed 09:00pm to 07:00am MT daily.
Commercial vehicles ONLY will be able to access Highway 16 during the following time intervals.
- 5:00 am - 7:00 am MDT
- 10:00 am - 5:00 pm MDT
- 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm MDT
Commercial vehicles are defined as trucks, tractors, trailers, or any combination thereof, with a registered gross vehicle weight exceeding 11,794 kilograms. Pilot vehicles are permitted passage with approved over dimensional loads.
The RCMP is controlling access to the park at checkpoints along Highway 16 in both directions. Drivers must stop and identify themselves at the checkpoints before proceeding.
