Sports Round-Up: Monday, August 12

They erupted for 19 hits and 14 runs and the Saskatoon Berries took game one of the Western Canadian Baseball League east division final 14-1 over the visiting Moose Jaw Miller Express.

Carter Beck had a day for the Berries, going 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 RBI.

Game two is tonight at Ross Wells Park.

The West Division Final also resumes tonight with Okotoks and Sylvan Lake - The Gulls taking game one by a score of 5-3 yesterday. 

Rambler Park Fastball playoffs on Friday saw the Moose Jaw Canadians fall 12-5 to The Rez. The Canadians are back on Kaplan Field tonight, where they’ll face the Hawks. 

Major League Baseball, the Blue Jays fell 8-4 to Oakland Athletics on Sunday.

The Edmonton Elks won at home for the first time this season last night - a 33-16 victory over the BC Lions. The next action for the Saskatchewan Roughriders is Friday when they host the Montreal Alouettes at Mosaic Stadium.  

The 2024 Olympic Games wrapped up in Paris yesterday. Canadian athletes are bringing home 27 medals in all, including 9 gold, 7 silver, and 11 bronze.
