Leafing through the new Fall Leisure Guide from Niverville Recreation & Wellness, one can’t help but notice how all-encompassing the organization is.
“We’re the town’s connection to things that are sports, fitness, and wellness related,” says Teresa Mistelbacher, Camps and Recreation Programmer for the Town of Niverville. “We offer a lot of classes, workshops, programs, and terrific ways to get integrated into the community.”
Chantel Todd is the Manager of Recreation for the Town of Niverville. She invites everyone to stop in for the upcoming Come-Try-It Week, where citizens can try all the fall programs offered by Niverville Recreation & Wellness for free, from September 9th to 14th.
“The whole week is free to try out our programs, see what you like, and register!” shares Todd. “You can try gentle yoga or ballroom dancing, check out our sports club, Zumba, art for all ages, skating school… and then on Friday we’re hosting a family fun night! We're partnering with the Niverville Nighthawks and Providence Athletics for a fun-filled, free night from 5:00 to 8:00 PM here at the Niverville CRRC.”
“It's a great asset to the community because it really is an all-ages, all-abilities space,” adds Mistelbacher. “We have everything from the ice rink to the fieldhouse, indoor walking track, indoor playgrounds, and communal areas where people meet up to enjoy the facility or watch the games – a lot of parents and grandparents come to watch their kids and grandkids play, and it's really nice to see the community gather together here.”
Niverville Recreation & Wellness operates out of the beautiful new Niverville Community Resource and Recreation Centre (CRRC).
“We put out a leisure guide for every season, and it’s filled with everything Niverville Recreation & Wellness has to offer,” notes Mistelbacher. “So, from September all the way through to December, the Fall Leisure Guide lists all of our events, like the community garage sale and community cleanup day, as well as details on day passes and memberships. It also outlines each of the programs and classes that people can sign up for.”
You can find the Fall Leisure Guide online at https://nivervillerec.ca/ or pick up a paper copy from the Niverville CRRC at 501 Centre Street, or from the Niverville Town Office.
One sport that is a lot of fun to watch or play, is pickleball. Todd notes they have a large tournament coming up this fall.
“We’re hosting a huge Fall Brawl Pickleball Tournament, October 4th, 5th, and 6th with all types of skill levels and three different age categories – 18-plus, 50-plus, and 65-plus – broken up into women's doubles, mixed doubles, and men's doubles.”
With something on offer for every pickleball player, they’re already looking for volunteers to help make the Fall Brawl Pickleball Tournament happen – and you can also sign up already, at nivervillerec.ca/programs/workshops-events/pickleball/.
“We have such an active community of pickleball players here, we are really happy to be hosting this in our facility,” says Mistelbacher.
She says that the passion from the people of Niverville, and the interest that they bring, helps them shape the Leisure Guide.
“We focus on local talent, local instructors – people who live and work in our communities contribute to these programs, and that makes it especially fun to put these programs and events together – elevating people within our community and the skills they bring.”
Mistelbacher encourages everyone to check out the Fall Leisure Guide online and suggests registering early.
“Some of our programs are filling up quickly, so if there's a program you want to join, reach out if you need more information, and sign up before spaces are gone.”
If you want to know more about any of the programs on offer, the Niverville Community Resource and Recreation Centre is open daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM with staff who are happy to answer your questions or put you in touch with the right people.
