Members of Chestermere City Council met on Tuesday and heard a report from city administration about the state of Chestermere's finances.
According to Sandy Johal-Watt, the city's director of corporate services, a new report says the city's summary revenues and expenses by each department have seen a $3.5 million surplus so far this year.
"The majority of the variances come from staffing, salary, and wages. As well as the accounts that are associated with salary and wages such as training and development."
The information came from a second-quarter variance report from January to June of 2024.
Pat Vincent, the chief administrative officer with the city until September 1 says the city's finances are looking quite good.
"I think that speaks volumes for the care and attention that's provided to taxpayers dollars," added Vincent. "I'm very happy with this report."
According to the city, the 2024 Operating Budget provided funding of $62.6 million for the operations and maintenance of the City of Chestermere.
