Lethbridge Polytechnic has partnered with the Grande Prairie Police Service (GPPS) to enhance the training of newly hired officers through its Police Cadet Training program. Beginning September 9th, the first class of 12 recruits will undergo a 22-week program in Grande Prairie, taught by instructors from the polytechnic’s Centre for Justice and Human Services. The training will cover essential law enforcement skills, fitness, and scenario-based assessments, culminating in a certificate in Police Cadet Training.

"This partnership with Lethbridge Polytechnic will strengthen Grande Prairie Police Service’s recruit training and ensure our newest officers are well prepared for their field training with post-secondary-calibre instruction," said GPPS Chief Dwayne Lakusta. The collaboration underscores GPPS’s commitment to providing local, high-quality training, while Lethbridge Polytechnic continues its tradition of offering top-tier criminal justice education to police services across Alberta and beyond.
