Siksika Nation is ready to begin the installation of fibre optic infrastructure.

According to the nation, Cross Cut Directional Boring LTD will begin construction in different neighbourhoods including a backbone network and residential service cables.

Staff with the nation say the project aims to enhance high-speed Internet access in the community.

According to a release from the Siksika Nation Tribal Administration, construction in the area will start in around two weeks, weather permitting with work hours running from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What to expect:

  • Temporary lane closures.
  • Horizontal directional drilling and vibratory plowing installation techniques.
  • Vacuum excavator trucks to find buried utilities.
  • Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.
  • Access for the fire department and emergency responders will be maintained.
