Get set for a closure of a stretch of the Yellowhead Highway following the long weekend.

The Trans-Canada Yellowhead Highway 16 west of Jansen will be closed from Tuesday, Sept. 3 to Friday, Sept 6, pending weather.

The temporary closure is needed to accommodate installation of a rail crossing to support the BHP Jansen potash project. Traffic will be rerouted at the turnoff to the Jansen mine site, east/west along the paved access to the mine and along Highway 6.

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways says the patience and understanding of all motorists is appreciated. Motorists are reminded to be cautious and alert and are asked to obey all construction signage in the area.

Motorists are reminded to regularly check the Highway Hotline, Saskatchewan’s provincial road information system, for the latest available updates.
