Navigating major life transitions; facing relationship challenges; or just feeling overwhelmed with the everyday; there are times in everyone’s life when managing mental health becomes a struggle.

But it’s not something you have to struggle through on your own. It’s okay if you don’t have the answers – if you have to ask for help.

As a husband and father of three who balances family, work, school, and volunteering, Brenden Bozlovitch, owner of BSB Counselling, understands how overwhelming it can be for anyone – especially men – to try and keep everything together.

“It often feels like you’re carrying the weight of the world on your own,” he said, “and there isn’t always a safe space to talk about the stress, worry, or other emotions that come with it.”

He added, “I believe people aren’t meant to carry the burdens of life alone, which is why I’m so passionate about creating a space where people can just be themselves – no judgement, no pressure.”

Brenden grew up in Surrey, BC, but found his home in the Peace Country in 2010. He earned a Diploma in Professional Counselling from Pacific Life Bible College, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership at Trinity Western University and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary. Brenden is currently finishing up his master’s degree in social work at Wilfrid Laurier University.

“Each step of the way has given me new tools and insights that I use to support my clients,” said Brenden.

He continued, “Over the past 10 years, I've had the privilege of working in various roles in mental healthcare. I’ve supported youth who are navigating mental health and addiction challenges. I’ve been there for families, individuals, and couples as they go through tough times, especially within the child welfare system. Each of these experiences has taught me so much about the complexities of mental health and the vital role that strong family dynamics play in healing and growth.”

Throughout his career and education, Brenden’s passion for helping people only grew stronger, as did his dream of one day opening his own counselling service.

“With BSB Counselling, my goal is to create a safe, nurturing space where people feel comfortable exploring their personal growth and healing,” he said.

Brenden’s main areas of focus include individual counselling, couples counselling, and helping families and friends navigate life transitions like becoming a new father, adjusting to an empty nest, or coping with the loss of a loved one. He specializes in Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.

“Each client’s journey is unique, and I’m here to walk alongside them, offering the support they need along the way,” he said.

He added, “If faith is something you want to incorporate, we can do that too, focusing on healing that’s not just about the mind, but the spirit as well. My goal is to make sure you’ve got the support you need to handle whatever life throws your way.”

Growing up in the Church, faith has always been a major tool in Brenden’s own mental health journey.

“Over the years, I’ve learned how to weave together the tough parts of life and the human experience with my faith, finding strength and guidance in it all. So, if someone wants to bring their spirituality into their healing process, I’m all for it. I believe in supporting not just the mind and emotions, but also the spirit, helping people find a sense of wholeness and peace as they navigate their own challenges.”

But above all, Brenden said, “My mission is to help you build resilience, find strength, and move forward in a way that feels true to who you are,” with the tools that work best for you and your beliefs.

In addition to supporting his community through counselling, Brenden also supports local nonprofit organizations, including Rising Above and the Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention.

“Rising Above does amazing work helping people break free from cycles of defeat and find hope again,” he said. “The Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention, they’re on the front lines, making sure that people who are struggling with mental health challenges have the resources and support they need not just to stay alive, but to truly promote their well-being and help them find their way through the darkness.”

He continued, “These organizations are doing vital work in our community, and their dedication really hits home for me. I’m all in when it comes to supporting what they do because, at the end of the day, it’s about making sure people are safe, supported, and finding their way to a better place.”

Whether you're struggling with addiction, depression and anxiety, or relational problems, know that you don't have to be alone in this journey.

“Don’t wait until the burden feels too heavy,” said Brenden. “Reach out today, and let’s take this journey together.”
