The City of Grande Prairie begins Phase Two of its trail construction in Muskoseepi Park on September 4, 2024.
The project focuses on reconstructing the trail and access path leading from the parking lot to the entrance of the outdoor pool at the bottom of the steps on 103 Avenue. Additionally, the basketball and tennis courts adjacent to the Aquatera Outdoor Pool will undergo significant reconstruction.
The construction is expected to run from early September until late October 2024. Following this, the contractor will return in 2025 to complete the project with the permanent acrylic line painting on the courts.
Scope of Work:
- Excavation and removal of the existing trail surface and subgrade materials.
- Reconstruction of the existing trail.
- Installation of two storm catch basins along the trail.
- Gravel installation and paving of the trail.
- Reconstruction of two basketball courts and two tennis courts, including fencing and paving.
- Acrylic painting of tennis and basketball court lines (to be completed in 2025).
Facility Impacts:
·The Aquatera Outdoor Pool will remain open during construction until its anticipated seasonal closure on September 21, weather permitting. A temporary trail will be established to ensure access to the pool and the bottom of the stairs on 103 Avenue. Accessibility accommodations will be provided for all pedestrians needing access to the pool.
·The basketball and tennis courts will be closed during construction.
