Two men lost their lives after a plane crash at Peace River Airport late Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:50 p.m., prompting an immediate response from the Peace River and Grimshaw detachments of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

The victims have been identified as a 30-year-old man from Manning, Alberta, and a 27-year-old man from Australia. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released their names pending notification of next of kin.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has taken over the investigation to determine the cause of the crash. No further details have been disclosed at this time.

"The RCMP extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," said a spokesperson for the Peace River RCMP detachment.

The Peace River Airport remained closed for several hours following the incident, and flights were either delayed or redirected. Local emergency services assisted at the scene, and an area around the crash site was cordoned off to facilitate the investigation.
