The City of Airdrie has provided an update regarding the bridge repairs on Veterans Boulevard (Highway 567), initially slated to begin this week.

In an August 30 social media post, the City of Airdrie stated that Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (ATEC) had advised them that bridge repairs on the Veterans Boulevard (Highway 567) bridge over the QEII would start yesterday and that the north, westbound lane on the bridge would be closed starting this Sunday. Officials have since noted that 'the start date for this closure has been delayed until September 17.'

"Changes to lane orientations and speed reductions on southbound QEII under the bridge will occur... Major delays should be expected during peak hours (4 to 6:30 p.m.). Alternative routes, such as 40 Avenue or Yankee Valley Boulevard, are strongly recommended to avoid delays," The City added.

The work is expected to take up to eight weeks, with an anticipated end date of October 31.
