The City of Grande Prairie is providing an update on the ongoing roadwork on 116 Avenue with significant progress being made between 102 Street and 100 Street.

The work, which includes full depth reclamation (FDR) operations is part of improving the lifespan of our roadways and enhancing safety for residents.

 Traffic and transit impacts:

  • Full depth reclamation (FDR) work continues on 116 Avenue from 102 Street to 100 Street.
  • 102 Street south of 116 Avenue is now open to traffic.
  • 102 Street north of 116 Avenue will close on September 11 to allow FDR operations. This closure is expected to last approximately five days.
  • Traffic is switching to the eastbound lanes on 116 Avenue to accommodate the next stage of work, with paving operations to follow shortly after.

The project remains on track for completion by the end of September.

Roadwork progress:

  • On September 11, proof rolling of the eastbound lanes will take place, followed by moving eastbound traffic onto these lanes. This will allow the contractor to begin pulverizing two of the westbound lanes.
  • On September 12 and 13, the north side of the intersection will close for conduit installation and pulverizing operations.

Transit Impacts:

  • City of Grande Prairie Transit Services will experience the following impacts:

    • Stop 820 will be closed for the duration of the construction with riders directed to stop 426.
    • Stop 822 will not be accessed by Route 8, however Route 4 will continue to service this stop as 426.
