The Strathmore Theatre Players' Guild is bringing a night full of fun to town next week.
Between September 18 and 21, the guild will be performing a pop-up theatre show in the Remuda Building at the Strathmore Ag Grounds. The event features three one-act plays intended for a mature audience.
"My attention span has given me a love for one-act, and I think there's a lot of people out there like me," said Courtney Nelson, co-director of the show. "Sitting through a three-act, two-and-a-half-hour play can sometimes drag on. When it drags on, I start to get fidgety in my seat."
Most one-act plays run for about half an hour. The plays for the upcoming show were taken from the 24-hour one-act play festival, which takes place in New York.
With three shows planned in a single night, the guild has been practicing ensuring the shows run smoothly.
"This is a shorter timeline and not as intense of a rehearsal schedule. We've rehearsed each show once a week for the past two-and-a-half months. Getting closer to show time, now we're getting closer to showtime, we've picked it up to two rehearsals a week for each show."
The plays being performed include "Appropriate Audience Behavior", "Crazy Eights", and "Baby Food". The shows run at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on Saturday (Sept. 21) at 2 p.m.
Tickets cost $10 a person and are available at the Vault Cultural Collective or the door.
