Watermelon eating contest at Dawson Trail Days this afternoon

It was a beautiful day to spend time outside and lots of people made their way to Ste. Anne for Dawson Trail Days.

The day kicked off with a pancake breakfast followed by a parade, and a Party in the Park!

Ste. Anne’s Recreational Services Manager, Sarah Normandeau shares they had entertainment, a vendor show, petting zoo, face painting, foam party, games, and more!

“We are having the best Party in the Park that anyone has ever seen I think, so it's pretty fun.”

She says that it was a really great day and shares a highlight.

“There is no party in the park without the mini doughnuts, so let's just put a little tag in there. You know what the watermelon eating contest is a big hit. Last year, I think we ran out of watermelon. We usually have like 3 different groups of kids and age groups coming in lots of prizes. It's going to be another big hit.”

The Party in the Park finished at 4:30 pm but they have an evening full of fun!

“Later this evening, after the Party in the Park is done, if there's any teens that want to come out to an awesome Teen Dance, it’s a western theme, so you can dress up, you can win prizes, there's a DJ. Then at 9:30 we have our fireworks and there's a huge surprise this year. And I think everybody needs to go out by the tennis courts and look towards our diamond 3 and they will see all the bells and whistles of what CanFIRE is going to do this year to show us.”

Head down to Ste. Anne this evening to see an incredible firework show!
