Hiker hospitalized with extensive injuries after bear attack in Crowsnest Pass

A man suffered extensive injuries from a bear attack on Friday (Sept. 13) near Window Mountain Lake.

Crowsnest Pass RCMP responded to an emergency SOS activation on the Great Divide Trail just after 11 a.m.

They found a 45-year-old Calgary who had been injured in a bear attack.

He was transported to hospital with help from Crowsnest Fire Rescue, Fish and Wildlife, Search and Rescue, and STARS.

The RCMP are reminding the public of the importance of SOS devices for use in cases such as this.
