On Sept. 13, 2024, at 5:50 a.m., Fort Vermilion RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 697, north of La Crete. Officers arrived on scene and the initial investigation showed that there was a head on collision between a pick-up truck and an SUV.
The driver of the SUV, a 31-year-old male resident of La Crete, was declared deceased at the scene. The 43-year-old male driver of the truck was determined to have sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. An RCMP collision analyst attended the scene, alcohol and drugs were not a contributing factor.
The Fort Vermillion RCMP send their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
