Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions may be ending earlier than expected.

The City of Calgary has been providing daily updates on the progress of repairs at the Bearspaw South Feeder Main.

According to a post from the city's Facebook page, water restrictions are expected to be lifted on September 21 or September 22, just a few days ahead of schedule.

Repairs began in late August following several water main breaks leading to water restrictions throughout most of the summer. Staff are working on repairing 21 segments of the main throughout the city, with the expected cost to be around $25 million.

The City of Chestermere and the Town of Strathmore will lift their restrictions once Calgary does as both municipalities get their water from the city.
