The second suspect in the murder of a Rocky View County employee had his first court appearance on Monday (Sept. 16) in Edmonton.

Elijah Blake Strawberry's case was postponed, with his next appearance set for an Airdrie courtroom on September 26.

Strawberry was arrested last Friday in O'Chiese First Nation near Red Deer.

According to police, Strawberry and Arthur Wayne Penner shot and killed Colin Hough, a resident of Airdrie, on a rural road outside of Strathmore. Police say that Hough was a good Samaritan who had tried to help the suspects.

A Fortis Alberta employee was also injured in the shooting.

Penner was arrested in Edmonton a few days after the shooting and was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. Strawberry remained on the run for over a month before he was arrested and is now facing charges of second-degree murder and attempted murder.

Despite both suspects being in custody, the RCMP continue to investigate the shooting.
