The Strathmore Spartans senior boys' volleyball team came home from the weekend with a win in a provincial tournament.
The team won gold at the Dinos tournament; a 20-team event held at the University of Calgary.
"We were all super excited. Strathmore has never won that tournament, so that was pretty impressive," said Jared Rilling, a Spartans player. "Most of us have played since Grade 6, so it's all coming together in our Grade 12 year. We have a great group of kids."

The tournament started rough for the Spartans, as they lost against All Saints High School in their first match.
"We were kind of down on ourselves, but throughout that day we started getting better with it. By the second day, we were loud and rowdy, and it helped us out a lot," said Kieran Neale, another Spartan.
An exceptional part of the tournament was the Spartans winning against teams they had never secured a win over before, which according to the team helped boost morale among the senior Spartans
"I'm really happy. There were a lot of tough teams out there," added Neale.
The Spartans began their season at the start of September.
