Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty presented the King Charles III Coronation Medals to worthy individuals, including a pair of well-known local recipients, Reverend Al Hingley of Humboldt and Lanigan’s Brad Wilderman.
Hingley is a retired United Church minister and tireless volunteer with various community organizations, not the least of which is the Legion Museum in downtown Humboldt. His passion for history has made him an invaluable resource in aspects of both local and national history.
Hingley has received Humboldt’s Citizen of the Year in 2011, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and Golden Jubilee medals, a Saskatchewan Centennial medal, and a Knights of Columbus Veteran of the Year Award.
Brad Wilderman is no stranger to the region, and especially to Saskatchewan cattle producers. Wilderman is an acclaimed innovator and entrepreneur.
Brought to the forefront in 2003 following the emergence of BSE in Canadian Cattle, Wilderman became the voice of the industry at a time when the borders closed to Canadian beef. He was the one-time head of Canada Beef, the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association, and a driving force behind Pound Maker Agri-Ventures, a leader in the value-added model of feedlots producing ethanol.
"As His Majesty's representative in Saskatchewan, I am honoured to recognize these Coronation Medal recipients for their inspiring service to their community and province," Mirasty said. "I am grateful for their tremendous examples of dedication, leadership and generosity."
Congratulations go out to the two worthy local recipients.
