The defence for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers has taken a hit.
The Blue and Gold are going to be without linebacker Adam Bighill for the remainder of the season due to season-ending knee surgery.
Bighill shared the news on Instagram saying, "Unfortunately today I’m going in for surgery on my knee that will end my season."
"The support from family, friends, teammates, and fans has been incredible. It sure makes this process easier, as it’s the furthest thing from your expected version of the season." Bighill said.
While his season has come to an end, he said, "Excited to watch and help my guys finish this season to reach our ultimate goal. This isn’t the end of #4 by any means. But it does mean one step at a time. Attacking rehab is next."
The CFL veteran was placed on the six-game injured list following the Labour Day Classic on Sept. 1 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Bighill was forced to exit the game while recording a pair of tackles.
Winnipeg's next game is on Saturday night at 6 p.m. as they look to extend their lead in the CFL's West Division.
