The Strathmore Spartans are heading to Calgary this weekend.

The team's first trip to the city this season features an unusual midday match against the Centennial Coyotes on Friday (Sept. 20).

In the Spartan's previous game against the Chinook Coyotes, the Spartans suffered a home loss of 50-10.

"We were a little overmatched, but I thought the team played pretty hard. Still, there were a lot of mental mistakes being made," said coach Danny Warrack.

The Spartans have yet to win a game this season, with the team having also lost against Chestermere, Cardston, and Catholic Central throughout the summer.

"A lot of our problems with this team is that we're small, and we're not practicing good habits enough. So, we've been trying to nip that this last week,"

Despite the rough season so far, Warrack retains a positive attitude as he looks forward to the challenge the Spartans face in their upcoming game.

"They need to keep being challenged to push them to get better and work harder in the offseason," added Warrack. "The hard way is the only way that they are going to get better."

The match begins at noon at Centennial High School. The game marks the first time the two teams have played against each other.
