The City of Grande Prairie is advising commuters of paving work at the intersection of 116 Avenue and 100 Street on Saturday, Sept. 21, weather permitting. The work is scheduled for one day, with the goal of minimizing disruptions by completing it over the weekend.

Traffic and transit impacts:

  • Minor delays are expected for motorists during the paving.
  • Passenger vehicles will still be accommodated through the intersection.
  • A partial closure will affect the truck route on 116 Avenue eastbound.
  • Trucks will not be permitted eastbound on 116 Avenue to 100 Street northbound and must detour at the 108 Street and 100 Avenue intersection.
  • Variable message signs will redirect trucks at:
    • 108 Street, south of 100 Avenue
    • 100 Avenue, west of 108 Street

“We’re scheduling this work over the weekend to minimize disruptions for weekday traffic,” said Capital Construction Supervisor Mark Hoseasson. “Thank you for your patience as we work to complete this key project.”

The City is on schedule for this project to be completed by the end of September.
