City of Grande Prairie Transit has completed the installation of two new heated bus stop shelters at the Transit Hub near Towne Centre Mall as of Tuesday, September 17.
These new shelters, along with existing heated shelters at Northwest Polytechnic and the Community Knowledge Campus, provide transit users with added comfort and protection from the elements, especially during colder months.
The fully enclosed, accessible shelters were designed to accommodate various mobility devices, providing a comfortable and secure waiting space for all users. Equipped with automatic door openers, the shelters will be available during regular transit service hours and will be securely locked outside of these times.
“The new heated bus stop shelters are a welcome addition to our downtown infrastructure," said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. "In our cold climate, these shelters offer a safe, warm space for riders as they wait for their bus, supporting a safe, inclusive and caring community with supports for all.”
