The Great Pumpkin decrees it every year at this time.
Saturday, September 28, it’s time to head out to the Pilger Pumpkin Festival in the warm and inviting village of Pilger.
The big pumpkin weigh in starts at 2 pm at the Pilger Community Hall, so load up the trailers and flatbeds with your best pumpkin produce.
That 2 pm deadline also applies to all judged goods like pumpkin carvings and those delicious pumpkin pies.
For the kids, there are loads of activities including airbrush tattoos brought to you by Humboldt Ink, a pumpkin shot put and pumpkin toss, bouncy castles, face painting and much more.
For the older crowd, there are draws and raffles, door prizes, refreshments, musical entertainment in the hall, and a photo contest. The barbecue will be sizzling right through the day and volunteers will be serving up those delicious pumpkin themed desserts.
With the days getting longer, you won’t have to wait as long for the fireworks happening at dusk.
It’s a day filled with everything pumpkin at the annual Pilger Pumpkin Festival on Saturday.
