Starting today, September 25, crews will be working at various locations throughout Grande Prairie, leveling uneven sidewalks to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility.
This city-wide initiative focuses on grinding down raised sections of sidewalks where height differences pose tripping hazards.
Crews will be working on-site for several days, addressing high-priority areas. This efficient process takes just 10-15 minutes at each location, minimizing disruptions to pedestrians. Vehicle traffic will not be affected. Grinding down uneven surfaces is a cost-effective approach to creating smoother and safer pedestrian routes compared to full concrete replacement.
Residents may see workers in multiple areas as the City takes steps to improve public safety and accessibility, ensuring safer pathways for everyone.
