Strathmore Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) are gearing up to host its Alberta Culture Days festival this weekend.
The town will celebrate the event on Saturday (Sept. 28) with food vendors, live music, and other activities in Kinsmen Park. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
According to the Alberta government, the event is a month-long celebration of arts, heritage, diversity, and community spirit. The province has provided $375,000 to 48 communities to host events during the month.
As for Strathmore's festivities, there will also be cultural booths alongside the ability to experience music, dance, and traditions from local and global communities. The festival is family-friendly, with activities for all ages.
"With two performance stages and interactive events, it’s a fun-filled weekend that highlights the rich heritage of Strathmore and beyond. Join us for a unique cultural experience that brings the community together," wrote FCSS on the Alberta government's website.
Chestermere also held its own Alberta Culture Days celebrations earlier in September, including a landscape painting event, a cultural jamboree, and a fringe earring workshop.
In 2023, around 215,000 Albertans attended Alberta Culture Days events throughout the province. The month also coincides with National Culture Days, which is celebrated over three weeks starting in late September.
