The City of Grande Prairie is set to begin asphalt crack sealing September 26, in various locations throughout the city.

Crack sealing is a proactive measure to preserve road surfaces, preventing more significant damage and extending their lifespan. This fast-moving process helps reduce the need for more extensive and disruptive road work in the future. This maintenance work contributes to the long-term durability of the City’s asphalt roads

  • Duration: Work begins September 26, 2024, with an expected duration of five days, weather dependent.

Impacts

  • Delays: Single lane alternating traffic will be in place where crack sealing is underway, expect minimal delays in work areas.
  • Public Transit: Short-term traffic disruptions are expected, but minimal impact to transit routes is anticipated.

"We’re committed to maintaining the quality and safety of our roads while minimizing disruption to daily traffic,” said Capital Construction Supervisor, Mark Hoseasson. “Crack sealing is a quick and effective solution to protect our infrastructure from moisture infiltration."
