The week of inspiration continues in South Korea as over 5,000 Christian leaders from around the world collaborate on how best to share the gospel.
A general theme has become apparent in the past few days as participants take in the week-long event happening in Incheon, South Korea. The focus has been one of working together in collaboration to share the good news of Jesus.
"We’ve had congresses like this about every 15 years, and those congresses have produced significant documents for the Kingdom that have set kind of a roadmap forward for mission," says Joe Handley, President of A3.
"One of the challenges is actually getting people to work toward an end."
The opening night of Lausanne 4 had Pastor and former missionary Michael Oh talking about putting aside pride as a way to move forward in unity.
"A lot of us, including myself, [are] proud of the work we do," says Handley. "We think we may be better than others in the same space, which is foolish, but we tend to do that. That pride creates barriers or walls. In addition, there’s a fear factor. If we share, what happens if I lose my resource stream to that other entity?"
A3 ministry, formerly A2, is focussed on sharing the gospel across all borders and lands. They recently released a book called Leading Well in Times of Disruption.

“The first section is the history of [the] Lausanne Movement and what it’s produced. The rest of the book is meant to be a roadmap for developing leaders for the global mission of the church: to finish the Great Commission,” says Handley.
Another focus of the conference has been based on growing younger leaders, exploring the idea of ‘marketplace’ Christians, and the role technology plays in sharing the gospel.
"Pray for unity, that our pride and ego and fear issues would diminish, and [for] our willingness to say, ‘No, we’re in this together. We need each other.’ That unity is going to be crucial for us going forward."
The Lausanne 4 Movement event will end after a week of speakers, worship, and connection on September 28.
