Statistics Canada released data on Saskatchewan's second quarter population estimates. Currently, the province's estimated population is 1,239,865, a difference of 6797 since last April. Overall, there was an increase of roughly 2.5 percent since last year.
Saskatchewan saw 5694 migrants from other provinces this quarter, however just over 1500 more left for other provinces. Of residents leaving the province, the majority went to Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia. Alberta saw just over 3200 Saskatchewan migrants this quarter, followed by just under 1700 in Ontario, and close to 1500 in British Columbia.
International immigration to Saskatchewan saw close to 7500 individuals with 545 Saskatchewan residents moving away from Canada, and 302 emigrants returning to the province.
The province saw a natural increase in population of around 600.
