The City of Dawson Creek is excited to announce the completion of the “Creekside Courts,” a new multi-use sports facility located in Kin Park at 9 Street and 110 Avenue. This project, which began with Phase 1 in the fall of 2023, has now reached its final stages with the successful completion of Phase 2 in summer 2024.
Phase 1 saw the initial development and opening of the courts for public use. It included the actual construction of the courts: four pickleball courts, two tennis courts and a multi-use court that can house volleyball or tennis. During Phase 1, the pickleball courts received a blue and green acrylic coating. Phase 2 enhanced the facility with a vibrant blue and green acrylic surface for the tennis courts to match the pickleball courts, along with the addition of picnic tables and garbage cans to improve the overall experience for visitors.
At the Council Meeting held on September 9, 2024, the facility was officially named “Creekside Courts” at the request of local donor Ross Ravelli. The grand opening ceremony took place today, September 25, 2024, celebrating the completion of this community asset and recognizing the generous donors who made it possible.
The City of Dawson Creek extends its heartfelt gratitude to the following contributors:
- Pacific Economic Development Canada – Canada Community Revitalization Fund
- Northern Development Initiative Trust – Community Places Grant
- Cindy and Ross Ravelli – Personal Contributions
- Lindberg Construction Ltd. – Construction Lead
- City of Dawson Creek Staff – past and present
Thank you to all who supported the Creekside Courts project and contributed to enhancing recreational opportunities in our community.
