Marie Smith Obituary
1950 ~ 2024 (age 74)
On September 28, 2024 we said a final goodbye to our dear Marie Smith. She played many roles in her life: mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. Marie was well known for her kindness, caring and thoughtfulness.
Marie was born on March 31st, 1950 to Clifford and Muriel Robinson, both deceased. Marie was predeceased by her spouse of the heart, Loyd Miners. She will be greatly missed by her son Blain, his wife Pam and grandson Eric, brothers Steve (Suzanne) and Mel (Sandy), niece Abbie, nephew Jeffrey, sister Dorothy (Harvey) deceased, niece Kendall (Ken) and great nephew Cooper. She will also be fondly remembered by her multitude of friends; most notably good friend Janine Specht who took such great care of her and came daily to visit and read the bible with her during her illness.
Marie passed away peacefully with her son Blain and Sister Dorothy by her side after a valiant battle with cancer. Blain and Dorothy were blessed to have over 3 months with her, to just visit, relive the past and laugh. Thankfully Marie was able to stay in her apartment until 4 days before she passed. Maried herself decided that she needed to go to palliative care for her final days.
Marie put her heart and soul into her Eatonia Community where she lived for 27 years. She gave considerable time and effort to the Eatonia Mantarion United Church, TOPS, and to the EOL (Eatonia Oasis Living) to mention a few. She was always busy baking, doing crafts and making tougues. All of which were donated to whatever function was currently happening. She was often seen dropping off meals or cookies to people in the community "just because". This generosity was returned to her during her final months, and we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the community and all the people dropped off meals, baking and fresh produce saying, "Marie would do it for us". Your care and support were deeply appreciated.
At Marie's request there will not be a service. There will be a private family interment, and graveside service, as she is laid to rest alongside her parents in North Bay, Ontario. If desired donations can be made to: Eatonia Mantario United Church Memorial Fund or Eatonia Oasis Living.
