Country music star Drew Gregory took home some special hardware on Sunday (Sept. 29).

Gregory won the Country Recording of the Year for "Neon Time" at the 2024 YYC Music Awards.

He says it was an incredible experience.

"I was real proud of that, cool to see."

Gregory's son asked him if he could photograph his new prize.

"He's eight years old, but he's quite the little photographer, so he took it out," added Gregory. "It's an awesome-looking award, they do a really good job with them. They look pretty sharp."

Gregory is originally from Standard, Alberta, and balances his passion for music with his life as a farmer.

"I don't get to go every year being in timber and we farm as well, so sometimes we're in the field," says Gregory.

However, for this year's event, he was able to make it.

There were artists spanning multiple genres including, country, rap, R&B, classical, and metal.

According to Gregory, it was wonderful to see so many like-minded individuals come together.

"Just some amazing performances that were country or not country. You got to appreciate the art and the passion that everybody brings to their art."

Gregory told StrathmoreNow he's planning to release a new album by early 2025 and get back into the studio to work on a few new projects.
