The Town of Kindersley has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2024–2028 municipal term election, with important dates and details for those considering a run for council and voters preparing to cast their ballots.
Election Timeline and Key Dates:

Council Nominations: Open from September 17th to October 8th.
- Nomination packages are available at the Town of Kindersley Administration Office.

Nomination Day: October 9th
- Completed nomination packages must be submitted to the Town of Kindersley Administration Office by 4:00 PM on October 9th. Any late submissions will not be accepted.
- Candidates who wish to withdraw their nomination must do so by October 10th.

Mail-in Ballot Applications: Due by October 9th, 4:30 PM.
Who Can Run for Council?
Candidates for the municipal election must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 18 years old on Election Day;
- Be a Canadian citizen;
- Have resided in Kindersley for at least three consecutive months immediately before submitting the nomination;
- Have resided in Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months prior to submitting the nomination;
- Nomination papers must be signed by at least five eligible voters from the municipality.
Who Can Vote?
To be eligible to vote, residents must:
- Be at least 18 years old on Election Day;
- Be a Canadian citizen;
- Have resided in Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months before Election Day;
- Either:
- Be a resident of Kindersley for at least three consecutive months before Election Day; or
- Be an owner of assessable land in the Town of Kindersley for at least three consecutive months before Election Day.
How to Vote:
Eligible voters can cast their ballots at an Advance Poll (dates and location to be announced) or on Election Day, scheduled for November 13th, 2024. Polls will be open from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Voters must present valid identification and complete a registration form at the polling station before receiving their ballot.
Ballots list the candidates for Mayor and Council alphabetically by last name. Voters can select one candidate for Mayor and up to six Councillors. Ballots are marked in secret, with instructions posted at all polling stations.
Required Identification:
Voters must present valid photo identification that shows their name and address. If photo identification is not available, two pieces of non-photo identification can be accepted, provided one shows the voter’s address. Candidate School 2024:
For those interested in running for council, the Candidate School 2024 is an opportunity to learn about municipal governance. The virtual session, hosted by the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA), will cover key topics such as:

- Roles and responsibilities of council members;
- Navigating conflicts of interest;
- Challenges specific to municipal governance.
