Christian songwriters and publishers were recognized last week at the 47th annual American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Christian Music Awards.
Matthew West and Brandon Lake took home some of the top honours with West taking home Christian Music Songwriter of the Year, and Lake winning Christian Music Songwriter/Artist of the Year.
This is the sixth time that Matthew West has taken home the Christian Music Songwriter of the Year award. Last year he received the Golden Note Award, given to artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones.
Brandon Lake, who has taken home five Grammy Awards and been nominated for a total of ten throughout his career, received the Christian Music Songwriter/Artist of the Year for four of his songs, 'Fear Is Not My Future,' 'Praise,' 'Praise You Anywhere' and 'Trust In God.'
Lauren Daigle's 'Thank God I Do,' co-written by Nate Ruess and published by Bearvon Music and Warner Chappell Music was also recognized at the event, taking home Christian Music Song of the Year. Meanwhile, the Publisher of the Year Award went to Essential Music Publishing.
This invitation-only event took place in Nashville on Sept. 29, 2024.
