The first 'Healthbox' in Alberta has been officially unveiled in Siksika Nation.
The unveiling was done at the Siksika Health and Wellness Centre on September 26, with the Healthbox serving to provide wellness supplies to those in need.
The box is a vending machine filled with products such as naloxone kits, personal hygiene products, and even food. All products are free for those who need it.
Although this is the first Healthbox in the province, there are others located in Ontario, Manitoba, and the Maritimes.
"Together, we’re making a difference in supporting one another on our wellness journeys," wrote Siksika Health Services on its Facebook page.
The box had been in operation for a month before the official unveiling and will also serve to reduce drug overdoses and the spread of HIV and syphilis.
