Rob Carnie: One more thing, there's been some backlash from a number of locals over the fact that several concession outlets at the Moose Jaw Events Center are no longer accepting cash. Can we talk about why that decision was made and maybe what sort of feedback you've received at City Hall?
Maryse Carmichael: I think some people initially were concerned because I think the perception was that it was all concessions were now (no longer) accepting cash and that's not the case.
Some concessions do not accept cash. You know, for us, it's really in terms of efficiency, how can we serve all the people that are at the Events Center as fast as we can?
Tap is much more expeditious, and we can just go ahead and get people moving through the lines fairly quickly.
I have to add that there were some concerns about some teenagers or little kids that go and sometimes they do have paper money. Not a problem, the concession that has the candy and (is in) the area more for the kids (does) accept cash (at that concession).
Rob: Very good, anything else you'd like to add?
Maryse: It's an exciting time. The important thing, I think is to remind all residents is to go and vote. It's important. It's a privilege that we have, to be able to go vote, whether it's provincial or municipal elections. Those are the people that will make decisions on what happens in our city.
Rob: Absolutely, get engaged, take a look at who's running at moosejaw.ca. You will on municipal Election Day, have the opportunity to vote for up to six city councilors and one man or one woman for the office of Mayor of Moose Jaw. Plus, you'll vote for school boards too, all divisions.
Maryse: Yes, absolutely, for both of the school divisions.
Rob: And that information is also on moosejaw.ca. Thanks so much for this and good luck in the coming weeks, you’re going to be busy.
Maryse: Thank you.
