Petra's music will be front and centre in a new faith-based film set to hit theatres next year.
The legendary Christian rock band has teamed up with Intrigue Films to bring their first-ever feature film, Beyond Belief, to life.
The film, set in the 1980s, stars singer Carson Lueders and features some of Petra's greatest hits.
The movie follows the story of Andy, a teenage outcast who, after hearing the voice of God, embarks on a journey of faith and self-discovery by competing in a town marathon.
"Beyond Belief is a movie about hearing God's voice and living out God's dream for life," said Director Johnny Meier.
When looking into music for this new film, Intrigue filmmaker Joe Sanders says he became obsessed with 80s Christian rock.
"I found the song 'Beyond Belief' by Petra that really inspired me like it did so many people over 30 years ago," said Sanders. "It's a powerful message of what God is willing to do for those who will take that step of faith. And we want to bring that message back."
This is the first time a film has featured the music of Petra.
"It's amazing how God continues to use the ministry of Petra," said Bob Hartman of Petra. "It really is," echoed John Schlitt.
"This movie is going to be something special. It's funny. It's exciting, and it's cool to see the music of Petra being used throughout. This really is a Christian movie they couldn't make in the 1980s, but we're going to now."
Filming for Beyond Belief got underway in August in Illinois. The film will hit theatres nationwide in 2025.
