A scattering of Aurora, a foreboding half moon, eerie reflective lights - they are all contributors to the haunting feeling heading into the festival of frights. The festival opens up on Saturday, and Discover Humboldt had a special insiders preview peek at this year's bountiful boo-fest.
A spoiler free review of such a great experience is a tough order. Suffice it to say that patrons who brave the walkthrough at the Humboldt vintage club will not be disappointed. The setting on a dark night is ominous in and of itself, but the incredible attention to detail in the trappings and the number of awesome effects is beyond impressive.
You’ll definitely be on edge with anticipation as you go through every new doorway and around every dark corner. It's a challenge for the eyes to take in all the detailed artwork while they're nervously darting around the room waiting for the next spooky encounter. It would be worth a second trip through just to absorb the lavish detail.
In the end, there's no doubt that it's the collection of ghouls and goblins, witches and warlocks, all in amazing attire, that locks in the experience. You won't find a group more dedicated to instilling freight and fun into a performance.
No spoilers here. Just trust the horrified hockey players and the scared spectators who were fortunate enough to take in the preview event. Screams, and yes even laughs, are guaranteed. Do yourselves a favor this spooky season, gather up your besties and take in what's sure to be one of the premier haunted house experiences in Saskatchewan.
And finally, Happy Halloween to all the hard-working spectres and spirits at this year's Festival of Frights.
