Many people will be gobbling down some turkey during the Thanksgiving long weekend.

However, there are still several fun events to enjoy during some much-needed downtime.

Poetry Café: A special poetry café event will be held at the Strathmore Municipal Library on Friday at 7 p.m. Staff say teens and young adults will perform during the event. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Walk for the World Meditation: Walkers can participate in a special event for an hour of walking meditation around Kinsmen Park starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 12).

Halloween Costume Exchange: The Strathmore Municipal Library will host the Halloween Costume Exchange on Saturday (Oct. 12). Residents can trade for a new costume and exchange an old one. The event is meant to help families on a budget and starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m.

Meet the Langdon Fire Department: The event is a chance for people to meet the Langdon Fire Department on Saturday (October 12) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Staff will showcase fire prevention and allow kids to get up close and personal with the fire trucks and meet the first responders that help keep Langdon safe.

In Stitches: An evening stitching group will host an event for people looking to learn new skills and make new friends. The event runs Monday (Oct. 14) at the Strathmore Municipal Library from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
