It’s Thanksgiving once again, and folks across the Southeast have many reasons to be grateful, whether it’s family, close friends, health, home or pets.

Here’s what Steinbach’s Mayor, Earl Funk is thankful for:

“I am thankful for Steinbach in general. The people of Steinbach.”

“When I go to meet with other mayors across our province or Caucus Meetings and I hear what's going on in other communities, I'm always so proud of our community, and how we step up.”

“I am also thankful for the social programs and organizations that we have, that help our residents.”

“We have such a great thing here. We are so rich with generosity and that is what I'm thankful for in our community, that we are known across our country for our generosity.”

Here’s what the town mayor of Niverville, Myron Dyck, is thankful for this year.

“I'd have to say first of all, I'm very thankful for my wife, without her support, I would not have the privilege of being able to be mayor of the wonderful community of Niverville, and I’m thankful for my family as well.”

“And then as we move beyond that, you know, to our CEO, town staff, my fellow counsellors, obviously a tremendous team, I love working with each one of them. Just to see staff and the longevity of service that they give to our community, because it's a place they want to work, I'm just grateful for that.”

‘I’m very thankful for all the volunteers in our community. I've always said that as Council we are five people, and we can do some things, but it is when we get community buy-in by the volunteers, that's when truly great things happen.”

“And I'm thankful for developers. I'm thankful for our residents. For those who coach our teams, for those who help make our community look beautiful, the team that puts on our fair. I mean, Niverville is a place where you belong because of the residents that choose to make this town their home.”

“Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. All the best.”
