The founder of South Africa's largest congregation has died at the age of 75.

Ray McCauley was the founder and pastor of the Rhema Bible Church South Africa, a church that has more than 45,000 members.

McCauley's son, Joshua, released a statement on Tuesday announcing his death.

According to Joshua, his father had stepped back from active church duties but remained fully committed to serving the body of Christ.

"His enduring legacy as a servant leader will continue to impact communities far beyond his lifetime."

Tributes have been pouring in from around the world.

"On behalf of Kenneth Copeland Ministries, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Pastor Ray McCauley," said Copeland Ministries in a Facebook post. "Brother Copeland has been friends with Pastor Ray since the 80s, and had the honor of dedicating his son, Joshua McCauley, to the Lord in 1984."

"We stand with his family and Rhema Bible Church, praying that God’s peace, comfort, and strength will surround them during this time. May the hope of eternity and the promise of resurrection through Christ bring comfort to all."

Today is a sad day for me," said Charles Nieman. "One of the great men of my generation went to Heaven. God used Ray to build Rhema Bible Church in Johannesburg, a life giving church that affected his entire nation."

Pastor Ray's funeral will take place at Rhema Bible Church on Oct.19 at 8 a.m.

All services will be live streamed on the Rhema Bible Church YouTube.
