The Pat Porter Active Living Centre is hosting an Open House all week long and non-members can try out their programs.

Executive Director Audrey Harder shares that Wednesday is free programming all day.

“You can come anytime during the day and try out a program or watch a program all for free. You can get your membership for next year. We're doing our early bird start so you can get your membership today and it starts today, so you can go all the way till next year, December 31st, that's exciting too. We also have a 50/50 draw where you can hopefully win up to $10,000, that's a little bit of extra excitement. When you pop in, you can buy your tickets here.”

She says that a frequently asked question they get is what the cost for the year is.

“I think that's a big thing cause we all worry about money. It's $25. You're covered for the whole year as a member. Then many of our programs are only $2.00 for any members and if you don't want to get a membership, it's $4.00 and up for our programming. So, you always save having that membership and as well as rentals, you save on rentals too.”

She adds, “Also they ask about when is the best time to come to meet people and I always tell people it's anywhere between 9:00 and 11:30 in the morning during our Coffee Corner. You get to know new people and they'll invite you to programs and find some things that you might want to do.”

Harder notes that the Pat Porter welcomes all ages.

“Most of our pickleball players are anywhere from 7 years old, up. So, we have all ages there. Many of our programs are structured just so it's perfect for you, for anybody. You can go either as fast as you want, or as slow as you want.”

As it begins to get colder, staying active can be challenging for some, and becoming a member at the Pat Porter provides plenty of activities to give you something to do.

“Winter can be so long, and we know it too. You've got to find those things. So, some people want to come and volunteer even. And we have a lot of volunteer opportunities. You can come at least once a week or more and spend time doing something outside of the house and we appreciate it. And you know you're valued. So, it's really important to do that too.”

Join them all week long to explore pickleball, cornhole, line dancing, yoga, and so much more. You can also find out more information on becoming a member and volunteering opportunities.
