This week's Airdrie Techmation Thunder Spotlight belongs to Zach Jones.
On Friday the Thunder lost to the Red Deer Vipers 4-3 before dropping another to the Mountainview Colts on Saturday 6-2. On the season, the Thunder have a 3-4 record.
Even though the Thunder dropped both of their games over the weekend, Head Coach and General Manager Mark Kulynych was proud of how Jones played.
"Jonesy played two solid games for us this weekend. He was working hard and playing the right way. Jonesy has gotten better throughout the year and is great for the room."
Kulynych went on to mention he is one of the older guys in the room.
"As one of our 21-year-olds Jonesy has been a big part of the leadership group and he showed that this weekend. The coaching staff and I are happy with Jonesy’s efforts and dedication so far this year."
Jones is thankful for the recognition from his Head Coach.
"He's a good coach. I'm really happy with what he's done so far this year, and so I'm pretty pumped to see what the rest of the year will bring."
He believes the team is in a good sport right now even though their record might now show it with them being a younger team.
"We want to win, and I know that our culture around the room is a lot better, so we are happy with that."
In seven games played this season, Jones has one goal scored. He plans to continue playing hard and help out his teammates whenever he can.
"The goal is to do lots of winning and see what happens from there."
The Thunder have two games upcoming, one tomorrow and one Saturday. Tomorrow the Sylvan Lake Wranglers visit the Ron Ebbesen Arena for an 8 p.m. puck drop. Saturday the Thunder travel to Ponoka to take on the Stampeders.
