Remembrance Day is coming up on November 11 and that means towns and cities are starting to plan their special ceremonies for the day.

Staff with the City of Chestermere's Remembrance Day Committee have put out a call to the public for a Silver Cross representative to lay the Silver Cross Mother Wreath at the city's ceremony.

"This individual will represent all mothers who have lost a child in the line of service," wrote the city in a Facebook post.

According to the Royal Canadian Legion, the Silver Cross was first issued in 1919, and the recipients can wear the cross at any time. Each cross is engraved with the name and service number of the person who died.

Residents can contact the city's events team if they know a person who is interested at events@chestermere.ca.
