It's almost time for residents to enjoy some trick or treating.

The spooktacular frights and unique costumes will be back on October 31.

Staff with Rocky View County provided a few safety tips for families when heading out for candy during Halloween.

Tips include:

  • Pick fire-resistant costumes to help avoid any accidents when kids are near flames. Also, make sure costumes aren't a tripping hazard.
  • If children are wearing masks, ensure they can see to avoid traffic.
  • Try to find brighter costumes for children or add glow sticks or reflective tape to help with visibility in the dark.
  • Remind kids to always stay with the group and not wander off.
