A haunted house in Strathmore is gearing up for some tricks-or-treats and fun Halloween scares.
On Saturday (Oct. 19), Chelsea Sollows and her family held their first night hosting a special haunted house tour for neighbours and friends.
"We're really lucky in our community here," said Sollows. "Our next-door neighbours, the Kelly family, they've been helping us every single year that we've done it."
Sollows has been hosting haunted house tours for the last three years, with each season featuring a different layout of animatronics, props, and even live actors to scare those taking the tour. According to Sollows, some of the props are even handmade.
"We always come up with a theme, and then my brain goes completely imaginative, and I never know what I'm going to make."
Every year the family has been using the tours to raise funds for the Wheatland County Food Bank. However, due to their success, they've decided to also accept donations towards the True North Society.
"It is fantastic how far of a reach that True North has now, helping as much of Alberta as they can," added Sollows.
The house tour also featured a community BBQ of hot dogs, potato chips, and drinks.
Although the night was dedicated for neighbours and friends, the house will be open to the public from October 26 to October 31 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
"There is no expectation for donations. If families cannot donate but still want to come out and do a family thing, we would just appreciate you coming out as a family and having a good time."
Despite Sollows not being a fan of Halloween, she said she helps put the tours together to celebrate her husband and child's favourite day of the year.
The house is located at 216 Cambridge Crescent.
